Sightseeing – Chalk cliffs (Jasmund National Park)The chalk cliffs extend from Lohme to Sassnitz, in the Northeast of the island Rügen. More than 50 million years ago, these cliffs developed out of calcareous shells, skeletons and carapaces of miniscule organisms. The so called "Königsstuhl" (literally "king's chair") is the most famous and most frequented cliff. Boat trips can be booked as the most spectacular view of the chalk cliffs is from the seaside. « back to index |
