Sightseeing – ProraThe sea resort of Prora extending up to 4.5 km was planned and built between 1936 and 1939 on behalf of the Nazis and was part of the "Kraft durch Freude" (literally "strength through joy") campaign. It was almost completed but never taken in operation. 20,000 people were supposed to take a 10 days' holiday there. Apart from the "Reichsparteitag" in Nuremburg, the sea resort of Prora is the biggest homogeneous architectural heritage of the Nazi era. « back to index |
